Vascularization of the Optic Pathway
نویسنده
چکیده
TEis problem has been of only moderate interest to research workers, and publications and monographs on the subject have been sporadic, though a few well-known names must be cited here (Leber, 1865a, b, 1872, 1903; Magitot, 1908, 1947; Behr, 1935; Wolff, 1939, 1940, 1948). The findings being very diverse, it seemed appropriate to try to find experimentally the normal vascular anatomy of the optic pathway, especially because alterations in the vessels play a preponderant role in the visual system. The finer details of the circulation are practically unknown, less and less data being available as we approach the capillary stage, The capillaries are definitely nutritive, being responsible for metabolism in normal physiological conditions, and even in certain pathological processes. Embryology and comparative anatomy have been hitherto neglected in the explanation of the experimental results, but the chronology of the embryological processes is very important in providing objective proofs of anatomical conceptions.

Vascularization of the Optic Pathway*
WHEREAS from the myelo-architectonic point of view the chiasma is merely an organ of transit, this is not so from the vascular point of view; there seems to be a partial dissociation between the myelo-architecture and the angio-architecture. The vascularization of the chiasma has been investigated on the basis of 22 human specimens. The techniques used (dissection after fixation in 10 per cent....
متن کاملElectrophysiological and Histological Study of Lysolecithin-Induced Local Demyelination in Adult Mice Optic Chiasm
Introduction: Demyelination is one of the main causes of neurological disability. It is the end product of numerous pathological processes, multiple sclerosis (MS) being the most common cause. More than 70% of the MS patients suffer from optic disturbances. This disease commonly affects the optic pathway, particularly the optic nerves and chiasm. Several attempts have been made to produce a ...
متن کاملVascularization of the human fetal retina: roles of vasculogenesis and angiogenesis.
PURPOSE To characterize the topography of and the cellular processes that underlie vascularization of the human retina. METHODS The vasculature of human eyes obtained from fetuses ranging in age from 14 to 38 weeks of gestation (WG) was examined in Nissl-stained, whole-mount preparations and by anti-CD34 immunohistochemistry. RESULTS The first event in retinal vascularization, apparent befo...

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of administration of a GnRH analogue to cows with ovarian follicular cysts on plasma renin concentrations and ovarian vascularization. Materials and Methods: This study was performed with 60 Friesian cows, which were diagnosed with follicular cysts, and randomly allocated into two groups: group A (treatment; n = 30) received 2 ml ...

Background & Aims: Regarding the effect of diabetes on vascularization processes and since the beneficial effects of aerobic exercise on the cardiovascular system have been proven, therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the effect of aerobic exercise on muscle angiogenesis and downstream factors of the PI3KR2 pathway in cardiac tissue of diabetic rats. Materials & Methods: Twenty di...
